The Russian move into the Ukraine has all of us worried this week. Our writers are going to be talking about it this week on The International Forecaster. We have a scene of unarmed Ukrainian soldiers marching on a Russian base and warning shots being fired. As things heat up for all concerned, it is hard think it wont go beyond heart on sleeve patriotism and flag marching. Many a war has been started for less.

State official Victoria Nuland somehow still has her job after dropping the F-bomb on the phone while working behind the scenes for the ouster of now ousted Ukranian Premier Viktor Yanukovych. This is mentioned only to show how much of an influence the US State Department aspires to have in affairs of countries in which they hope to impose regime change.

The cold war is long over, but its business as usual for the political meddlers. In their defense, Yanukovych jailing of former PM Yulia Tymoshenko on trumped up charges and building palatial properties for himself out of public coffers is the motivation for the meddling. But we cant help but point out that if democratic processes and the will of the people weren’t meddled with by foreign powers in the first place, we wouldn’t be here, and we would all be in a better world than the one we have today.

Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin has been busy trashing his country’s reputation after a successful winter Olympics. In the last few hours, Putin now claims he is not there to wage war in the Ukraine, despite rushing to seize strategic Russian assets in the region.

The strategic assets that Russia owns in the Ukraine are numerous, such as military bases, naval ports, warm water shipping ports, bridges, Gazprom natural gas pipelines upon which western Europe depends for gas. But even so with the people of Ukraine hungry for change from its former, corrupt, pro-russian government, it still seems hard to believe that the Ukraine would ever actually deny access to Russian resources.

If Anybody you know happens to be talking to Vladimir Putin, please ask him for us what is it that he hopes to get by invading the Ukraine that he doesn’t already have.
